Your Licensed Kindermusik Educator – Cath Smithson

Cath is a qualified primary teacher with 20 years’ experience across the primary age range. Having chosen to take a break from full-time teaching, Cath now teaches part-time in various schools with the City of York Council. While most of her teaching career has been in York, some time was spent in schools in Belgium and New Zealand. In all these posts, she has found herself co-ordinating music within the school. She is a member of the General Teaching Council, the National Union of Teachers and the Musician's Union.

A keen musician, Cath is a member of a 4-strong women’s a capella singing group, as well as playing piano, guitar and clarinet. She sings regularly in her local church. Cath is also a qualified massage therapist and is pleased to incorporate baby massage into Kindermusik 'Village' classes. She has one daughter and has lived in York for 19 years.

A qualified and licensed Kindermusik educator since September 2003, Cath has joined over 5300 other teachers in 69 countries across the world, reaching well over 1.5 million families. She has again been awarded 'Maestro' teacher status by Kindermusik International, in recognition of her expansive programme and ranks her amongst the top 5% of Kindermusik Educators worldwide.
